Firebox BBQ on the Bluff

The first weekend in October, more than two dozen pitmasters, chefs, farmers, brewers, and distillers are coming together on the banks of the Mackay River on St. Simons Island. It's a laid-back and very special event with tons of great food, live music, and more, all in an unbeatable setting beneath a canopy of live oaks. And it's to benefit a great cause, too.

The Firebox Initiative was founded by restaurant people for restaurant people. After Griffin Bufkin's and Harrison Sapp's restaurant, Southern Soul Barbeque, burned down in 2010, they learned that their friends in the community and in the restaurant business would lift them up in their time of need. They have never forgotten that feeling and it is what drives their desire to help others with the Firebox Initiative.
